Overview
The 2020 Honda CR-V is one of the world’s best-selling SUVs for good reason. With its fifth-generation platform, Honda refined an already competitive formula — delivering a turbocharged engine with class-leading cargo space, a supremely practical interior, and a hybrid powertrain that makes genuine environmental sense without sacrificing performance.
Standing slightly taller and wider than its predecessor, the 2020 CR-V has a more confident road presence. The elevated driving position, panoramic sunroof, and optional two-tone exterior colours make it one of the sharper-looking entries in the compact SUV segment.
Technology

The CR-V’s 7-inch infotainment display supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard from the EX trim upwards. Honda Sensing — the suite including collision mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise, and road departure mitigation — comes standard on all trims in 2020, a significant update from previous years.

The Hybrid variant uses Honda’s two-motor system that enables EV-only driving at low speeds, series-hybrid mode under moderate loads, and direct lock-up for highway cruising — all seamlessly managed without driver input. Wireless phone charging and a premium Bose audio system are available in top trims.

Trims
• LX — Honda Sensing, 7-inch display, cloth seats
• EX — CarPlay, sunroof, push-start, heated seats
• EX-L — Leather, power liftgate, dual-zone AC
• Touring — Bose audio, HUD, 18-inch alloys, wireless charge
• Hybrid EX-L — Two-motor hybrid, AWD, improved fuel economy

Maintenance
The 1.5L VTEC Turbo requires 0W-20 full synthetic oil, with Honda’s Maintenance Minder system alerting you when service is due (typically 10,000–12,000 km intervals). Timing chain — no belt replacement cost. CVT fluid change recommended at 90,000 km. Hybrid battery warranty covers 8 years or 160,000 km. Tyre wear on the AWD variant should be checked every 10,000 km.
Honda parts availability in Nairobi is good, with authorised dealerships and reliable grey-market spare suppliers. Estimated annual maintenance: KSh 40,000–70,000.
