Verifying a vehicle’s mileage online depends heavily on the country of registration and what records are available.

In Kenya, there’s no single public mileage database, but you can still cross-check using several reliable methods.

🇰🇪 If the car is in Kenya

1. Use NTSA TIMSThis is the official government portal.

Steps:Log into the NTSA TIMS account.Go to Motor Vehicle Search.Enter the registration number.Review vehicle history.

👉 What you get:Ownership history Registration details(Sometimes) inspection records

Note: NTSA usually does not show mileage unless captured during inspection.

2. Check import history (VERY important in Kenya)

Most cars in Kenya are imported used (mainly from Japan).Use the chassis number on:

JEVIC

QISJ

Auction sheet services (CarVX, BeForward inspection, etc.)

-What to look for:

*Auction mileage

*Export certificate mileage

*Auction grade consistency

This is often the most accurate mileage proof.

3. Get a paid vehicle history reportGood if the car was imported.

Popular services:CarVXAutoCheckCarfax (best for US imports)You need:VIN / Chassis number👉 These may show:Mileage timelineAuction photosOdometer rollback alertsAccident history

4. Compare with physical inspection (don’t skip)

Online checks alone are not enough.

Verify:

Wear on steering wheel & pedals

Seat condition

Service book stamps

OBD scan mileage

🚩 Red flags:Low mileage but heavy interior wear, missing auction sheet and Service book gaps
